Dr. Sam Lee received the 2025 Outstanding Doctoral Research Award at the National Association for Research in Science Teaching Annual Conference. This prestigious award is given annually for the Doctoral Dissertation judged to have the greatest significance in the field of science education.

More than 2,700 people visited Cal State Long Beach on July 20 for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics annual open house. The community event showcased the college's research and achievements while engaging children in educational activities.

The Department celebrates the return of opportunities to 'practice' teaching science in our local community. We are grateful to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Long Beach and Kettering Elementary School for welcoming ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵ students into their learning spaces, and giving our future elementary teachers a chance to see how kids engage with science first-hand.
