Fall 2026The Ethics Reading Group ('ERG') has restarted! We will explore recent work in and around the discipline of ethics—especially broadly applied areas like political philosophy, social philosophy, applied ethics, technology ethics, etc.

The government of Japan, through its Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) program, offers a competitive $27,000 research fellowship.

The Nietzsche Reading Group (NRG) is open to any student interested in the work and thought of Friedrich Nietzsche, as well as secondary literature within Nietzsche studies.

The Department of Philosophy is currently home to five graduate students who have been awarded research assistantships over the past two years courtesy of the ‘Equity Scholars’ program in College of Liberal Arts. These students have received mentorship to assist them with their research goals, both within PHIL and CLA, and financial support.

Congratulations to Sandra Avitia, who graduated with a triple major in Philosophy, French, and International Studies this past FA20. (Yes, you read that right—a triple major!)
