Yousef K. Baker, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Department of Global Studies at Cal State Long Beach.

 

He also co-directs the Global Middle East Studies Program on campus and is the co-founder of the Iraqi Narratives Project, collecting oral histories of migrants from Iraq to the United States or Canada. His research focuses on the contemporary Middle East and North African politics as well as American foreign policy in the region. He also examines anti-Muslim racism and its connection to national and global politics.

 

Baker holds a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
