Dr. Ji-Hwan Kang
Dr. Ji-Hwan Kang is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵState University, Long Beach, where he has been a faculty member since 2020. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2017. He completed his postdoctoral training in Polymer Science and Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Dr. Kang’s research focuses on soft, active, and functional materials that dynamically respond to external stimuli, including chemical, thermal, optical, and magnetic inputs. His work combines polymer science, microfabrication, and additive manufacturing to develop programmable shape-morphing structures, remotely controlled microscale systems, and adaptive material interfaces. His current research explores 3D-printed functional materials and microscale systems for sensing and actuation, with emerging applications in environmental monitoring and biomedical engineering.
