I got involved with the Mentor/myBeach program because I really enjoy gaining insight and wisdom from a mentor whose life experiences can teach me valuable lessons that can ultimately contribute my overall personal and professional growth.

I got involved in the mentor program because I thought it would be a good way to learn from someone who has been through a similar life path.

It is vital to network, be active on campus, and actively engage with others in the program. The last two years have been a rewarding experience and I feel grateful to have had such great experiences and memories with MPA students and professors.

I love Long Beach because there is something for everyone here. I am happy that I transferred to ��֦��Ƶ because I feel a part of the community and school.

I remember touring Universities back in high school and stepping foot onto Long Beach State and immediately thinking, “this is where I belong.”

I believe that the myBeach program and the Alumni Association bring people together in a comfortable, friendly environment that embraces different backgrounds and allows students and alumni alike to feel a sense of importance as they reflect on what they contributed to ��֦��Ƶ.

Getting involved and joining student organizations, such as the Hispanic ��֦��Ƶ Business Association, has opened so many doors for me. I have grown professionally and found a support system and a familia on campus.

I decided that I wanted to develop my overall professionalism so I immersed myself into organizations on campus such as Alpha Kappa Psi, FMA, and SCPD. I gained not only essential business skills but friends for a lifetime along the way.

My beach experience has been a great one. All of the professors are really helpful and nice. I have learned a lot from them and I feel prepared to become a great teacher. The organizations on campus have also made my experience worthwhile.

My experience here has been uplifting and positive. I want to be an example to other older adults who may think that it’s too late to get a degree. It is never too late to keep learning and give back to your community. Generous students who have gone before me have helped make this a great school and now I want to be able to give back for others.

Reflecting on these past three years at The Beach, CSU Long Beach has provided me the opportunity to grow as a leader and as a professional through three aspects: academics, extracurriculars, and relationships.
