Sara Zarate Baumann is the Assistant Director of Government Relations at the Port of Long Beach, where she leads the division’s legislative unit and helps shape the Port's advocacy strategy on issues like offshore wind, clean energy, and economic resilience. She has led strategy for the Port's multi-billion-dollar Pier Wind offshore wind project and helped secure hundreds of millions of dollars in state funding, including a share of $475 million from California's 2024 Climate Bond. 

Sara's path in public service began in local and state government before she served as a Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellow in the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵState Assembly. She went on to hold government relations roles at Long Beach Transit and the City of Long Beach before joining the Port of Long Beach in 2022. Sara holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, both from ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵState University, Long Beach. She grew up in Carson, California, in a family of laborers. Sara and her husband are the proud parents of two young children.
